The design features a geometric background reminiscent of the edges of the colorful shawls woven on a handloom in Himachal Pradesh, a northern Indian state in the Himalayan region. Its turquoise tones create a striking contrast with the warm colors of the iconic Big Flower, a large tribal flower from the Lisa Corti archive and the true protagonist of this print. The matrix for each of these elements was handcrafted using block printing and then reworked in Italy with sophisticated techniques.
For this collection, Lisa Corti wanted to experiment with a new and exciting printing technique. This new technology is truly unique, as the design is created from a hand-cut prototype and then block-printed by master artisans in India. It is then reproduced on pure cotton in Italy, using a contemporary yet artisanal process that perfectly blends tradition and innovation, a cornerstone of Lisa Corti's research.
